Rx Express chartered trains take seniors and other patients to Canada where prescription
drugs are less than half price because like many other countries, Canada negotiates bulk discounts on behalf of all residents. Our seniors and patients should not have to travel to
Canada to get the affordable prescriptions they need. A U.S. bulk purchasing pool that
negotiates big discounts from drug makers should be open to all Americans.

The Foundation for Taxpayer and Consumer Rights organized two chartered train trips — dubbed the Rx Express — to take seniors and other patients from throughout the West and East Coast to Canada to purchase lower cost prescription drugs.  Rx Express riders saved and average of 60% off the prescription drug prices they pay in the U.S. for a total annual savings of $2000 each.

We invited members of the news media to ride the Rx Express to document the need for a U.S. bulk-purchasing program.  In total, the Rx Express train trips generated more than 300 television appearances with a Nielsen audience of 65 million, 60 newspaper articles and100 radio interviews.
